IGVP publication among the highlights of 2018 collection

Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion (PPCF) is the default journal for most European and Asian researchers when it comes to publishing their results about general plasma physics or nuclear fusion. Every year the journal announces the highlights of the past year and for 2018, a publications from the IGVP is among the 25 Highlights of 2018 https://iopscience.iop.org/journal/0741-3335/page/Highlights-of-2018

The work deals with the deleterious effects of turbulent plasma density fluctuations on microwave beams injected into a fusion plasma for heating purposes. Such perturbations are in particular a problem when localized power absorption is required as in the case for the next-generation fusion experiment, ITER, currently under construction.

Extensive simulations are carried out to quantify these perturbations and benchmark numerical codes to test their validity. Within this paper, limitations of simplifying but fast numerical models are explored in order to identify scenarios where more extensive numerical models are required.
